When I first walked into Rutul Shah & Co. LLP, I had a very simple expectation.

I thought my first few weeks would revolve around audit files, taxation work, Excel sheets, compliance, and technical learning. And honestly, that is exactly what every intern expects while joining an audit firm.

But what I experienced during these two weeks was something completely different — something much deeper. Something I never expected an organization to teach.

On one of the very first days, all interns were given a plant. Yes, a plant. For a few seconds, all of us were confused — "What exactly does this have to do with audit?"

But slowly, day by day, the answer became clear. Every morning, before starting work, we checked on our plants. Did it get enough water? Is it growing properly? Does it need more care?

And somewhere in this simple activity, I realized an important lesson: Growth never happens instantly. Whether it is a plant, a career, or a person, growth only happens through consistency, patience, and discipline.

At the end of every day, we had to share the condition of our plants in the official group by sending photos. Initially, it felt like a fun activity, but eventually it became a habit of accountability. Without even realizing it, we were learning discipline, responsibility, and teamwork together.

Then came another unique part of the experience: the weekly lectures. Twice every week, sessions were conducted not only on technical concepts but also on life lessons, mindset, communication, and professional behavior. These sessions made me realize that being successful in corporate life is not only about technical knowledge — it is equally about the way we think, communicate, and handle situations.

Along with this, regular tests on Language, DI, and LR became part of our routine. Logical thinking, communication skills, and analytical ability are what help us grow professionally, not technical knowledge alone.

One more habit that deeply impacted me was reading. Every day, we read one chapter from The Art of Thinking Clearly by Rolf Dobelli. The book opened my eyes to how human thinking is often influenced by biases and wrong assumptions. Those chapters did not just improve my thinking for work — they also changed the way I observe life.

But perhaps the most heartwarming part of these two weeks had nothing to do with work, lectures, or tests. The firm insisted that all interns should have lunch together — and even provided their own cabin space for us so we could sit comfortably together.

In many workplaces, lunch is just a short break between tasks. But here, lunch became a moment of bonding. Somewhere between sharing food, conversations, and laughter, we stopped feeling like strangers. We started feeling like a team.

These two weeks have taught me that an organization becomes truly great not only because of the work it does, but because of the people it builds.

Today, I realize that I did not just join an audit firm. I became part of a culture that believes in building professionals as well as better human beings.
